Don't forget the iPod Touch

iPhone users download approximately 10 new apps a month, while iPod touch owners download an average of 18 per month

iPhone developers should remember to create an "iPod Touch" mode (that'll be enabled automagically, naturally) for non-iPhone users.

Our assumption is that iPod Touches have less internet throughout the day, but when they do it'll be via WiFi so it can handle more concurrent downloads. This way we can ensure the user has plenty of fascinating content whilst offline.

With Broadersheet, we'll allow iPod Touch to download fifty or sixty interesting stories in a burst as opposed to the iPhone where we download news where appropriate when the application and network is active.

We think the iPod Touch barrier to entry is so low for consumers it'll quite literally take over the mobile device world. With applications like Instapaper, Stanza and Broadersheet it's sure to be the ultimate reading platform.

If you're an iPod Touch user (or an iPhone user) and you'd like to test our application, sign up here.
