My Mother got an iPhone. She loves it. She loves that her bank supports the iPhone - meaning she can bank anywhere on the move.
As First Direct said:
As the UK awaits the long-anticipated release of the iPhone, first direct has become the first bank to adapt its online banking to work seamlessly with Apple's latest offering ahead of its November release.
What First Direct mean is they did nothing except create a (lame) custom icon for the home screen, and told their users how innovative and ahead of the technical curve they were. They even sent a press release.
Do any bank websites not work with the iPhone? The point of the iPhone isn't that it just works - its that it should be a superior user experience.
The Bank of America iPhone application, on the other hand is a great example of innovation from banks. I wish others would follow suit. Maybe there is room for a "Mint for iPhones" that is a white label solution for banks to use.
