Broadersheet learns as you use the app. The factors that inform the learning system are described below.
Directly influence how Broadersheet selects it stories by editing your newspaper within the app:

Hearting stories that are a good read will help Broadersheet learn the topics and sources that interest you.
Trashed stories give Broadersheet extra hints about what you don't like.
Star a story to save it for later.
Save time by swiping across a story that you feel strongly about. This is a great time-saver when you love a story or want to get rid of it:

Every gesture and edit you make to your newspaper is sent through to Broadersheet's digital newsroom so that next time you open the app, your newspaper will be even better than last time.
Broadersheet can be directly influenced from the Settings tab. You can drill-down and tell Broadersheet which sources you really love and which you never want to see. Tap the source name to toggle between heart, trash and the "maybe" tick:

Broadersheet lets you focus your news on topic areas with a simple tap of the screen. With just a few more taps you can introduce specific topics into your newspaper.

Heart or trash as many custom topics as you need. Heard enough about Barack Obama? Just pop him in the trash. Really want news on your favourite football team or upcoming geek gadget? Heart that topic!

When you're finished setting up your main topics and sources, they'll be automatically saved. If you're connected to the Internet settings are sent to the Broadersheet servers immediately. If you're offline your settings are uploaded next time you refresh the news.
